Frequently Asked Questions

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a technique that helps you pay attention to the present moment. It can be a tool for those who deal with stress, depression, and pain. Mindfulness is not a cure-all by any means; however, mindfulness may be an effective coping skill to help practically anyone.

Do you have to be religious or spiritual to practice mindfulness?

No, being religious or spiritual is not a requirement for practicing mindfulness. But if you are religious or spiritual, and want to incorporate that into your practice, that’s okay too!

Is it okay to use guided meditations?

I personally prefer guided meditations, but I think it’s best to practice what works for you.

Why did you create this website?

I started practicing mindfulness several years ago to help cope with mild anxiety. Before I started practicing, I had this perception that meditation in general was only for the deeply spiritual, and that meditation involved believing in the concept of chakras and having a spirit. It wasn’t until I came across several resources by both Sam Harris and Jon Kabat-Zinn that I realized my perception of mindfulness was wrong, and that practicing mindfulness doesn’t require you to be spiritual or religious. I’m hoping that this site will help others who may have the same perceptions who might be missing out because of these ideas.
